Tania Fiolleau
BIOGRAPHY
Tania Fiolleau was born in the early 70s. She is the second daughter issued from a marriage between a strong-minded young man and a Catholic woman of strict religious background. Soon after her birth, Tania’s father became an alcoholic and a drug user. Later, he found a way to fill his pockets not with grain but with money earned from trafficking marijuana.
While her parents raised horses, dogs and other small household pets, Tania learned to appreciate the love the animals would give her, which was lacking at home. As for Tania’s mother, she soon sunk into deep depression, which saw her ignore all of her responsibilities towards her daughters and husband. The atmosphere around their home evolved and Tania found herself the subject of unbearable beatings from her father.
Once in foster-care, Tania couldn’t bare to be moved from one foster home to another for very long. She ran away and hitchhiked her way into a brutal rape. After the rape Tania became a martial arts expert.
With the physical scars of being repeatedly beaten, and the emotional scars of being raped, Tania didn’t abandon her dream to be married one day to a ‘nice man’ who would love her such as her parents never did. The ‘nice man’ she married turned out to be a beast out of hell. Although, Tania managed to finish high school, she didn’t have much to offer by way of experience in any sort of jobs. Money was needed, however, to gain custody of her two sons after her divorce. This is when she was lured into prostitution—to pay the legal fees.
Known as Nina at the time, Tania led a very successful business venture heading no less than two brothels in Vancouver. Although the money had allowed her to retain the services of one of the best lawyers in town and to gain full custody of her two boys after a four-year-long court battle in the Supreme Court, which gained media attention, over $350,000 later, once again, Tania found herself alone. Running out of money along the way and doing research on the topic of prostitution, she landed in a tent in Government campgrounds without a penny to her name.
The plan is to get as many women out of the prostitution industry as Tania can. Her website www.savethewomen.ca tells her story and describes her goal. Her book should become a feature film in 2011. She has reached the heart of many, including movie producers, radio and TV interviewers, while her readers will be thrilled to read her book, which is now released.
