I went to school at Pirie, Resurrection, Luther South and Bradley University. I have a young son, and a loving relationship with my mate and with my God. Writing comes naturally to me as a means of expression. Poetry is my first love, but now Children's fiction is my "affair".

I have arrived at middle age to find the dreams of my youth are re-emerging, And coming True. Being a published (and recognized) author is one dream I've cherished for decades. Now is my time.

The Real world is my fodder. Often too harsh for the young audience I aspire to reach, educate and entertain. So I enlist the assistance of characters that dwell someplace between reality and pure fantasy.

My poetry comes from real joys and sorrows, triumphs and pains. Someone, I believe, has had a feeling just like mine, but didn't have a way to express it. Some will just appreciate knowing, they aren't alone, or that their boundless joy is shared by someone else.

However I'm (my work) is interpreted, I only hope the the enjoyment of the written word endures, and that my humble offerings to that end
endure to uplift, inspire, comfort, and entertain long after I'm in my heavenly Father's loving arms.

SWEET CITY
SWEET CITY
by Leah M Hege Rating: 0.0

Sweet City is the story, in verse, of a healthy boy named Bran and his equally healthy friends, who embark on an enlightening adventure. Beginning from their home, in the Village of Whole, these six children, (named for various grains), discover a place where the lifestyle and diet are opposite their own.

Together these noble Grains, act as grains do in the body. They collectively dedicate themselves to providing the "Sweeties" all the healthful benefits within their power. For the town of SWEET CITY that means a better place to live.

The Whole Grains get some recognition for their considerable effort and for Bran, there's a special suprise.

Children will find the verse an engaging introduction to some of the benefit of a lifestyle and diet that isn't made of sugar. The concepts of teamwork, community, hard work and hospitality join with that of environmental consciousness. Combined, these ideas can provide a sweeter place to live for all of us.
