The Flight of The Hawk
The Flight of The Hawk
by Jerine P. Watson Rating: 5.0

This is an adventure novel set in the rocky hill country of Texas, specifically in a remote upscale "ranch" subdivision of elegant homes and weekend getaways for the Texas rich. Three ethnic groups are interwoven in the intricate plot - the Texas rednecks, the Mexican wetbacks and the wealthy residents. A revolution is brewing nearby in northern Mexico and the guerillas have chosen Tierra Grande as the perfect place to ensconce their leader, Leo del Toro, a pathological killer, who will attempt to control the revolution from the largest home on the Tierra Linda property. The Mexicans hold the residents captive while awaiting leaders of the revolution to make further plans and two men who had gone arrowhead hunting when their wives were forced into captivity cautiously crawl near the large home used by the Mexicans and watch from hiding places as the group of guerillas increases in numbers. How the residents escape their captors and manage to avoid getting killed is the denouement of this exciting, page-turner conclusion.

The detailed descriptions of the homes and the terrain are drawn from an actual place but the characteristics of the people involved are strictly imaginary; no resemblance to anyone dead or alive is intended.
